Occidental Power, a California C corporation, is a General Contractor and a Solar energy contractor offering design, installation, maintenance, and service of both commercial and residential solar photovoltaic (PV), thermal, and natural gas cogeneration systems.

We are currently looking for:

Production / Project Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Production Manager oversees production of PV, solar thermal and cogeneration installations, as well as all maintenance and repair of systems. The Production Manager manages the daily production schedule and forecasts all items associated with production.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordination of production forecasting
  • Inform clients of production schedule
  • Maintain contact with general contractors and sub-contractors as needed on a project basis
  • Material purchases
  • Troubleshooting/problem solving of field issues
  • Oversee field supervisor
  • Perform system inspections with city/county inspectors
  • Present client with close-out package, including final PG&E and CEC paperwork
  • Perform client final walk-thru and system detail description
  • Directs mobilization of crews on a daily basis
  • Develop cost/stock sheet preparation per project
  • Daily scheduling of field crews and forecasting of production schedule at weekly and monthly levels
  • Scheduling, estimates and invoicing for maintenance and repair work
  • Work with Directors of Systems Design, Sales and Marketing, and Admin/ Finance on special bid projects and addressing production questions
  • Approve over-time hours, as appropriate
  • Input and supervise hours, verify that all direct time allocated to a specific job
  • Maintain training program for crews (Solar Electric, Solar Thermal and Cogeneration)

Responsibilities and back-up assignments are not limited to above stated tasks and may vary dependent upon need.

PROJECT MANAGER

  • Manage multiple projects, on time and on budget
  • Comply with and monitor company safety and quality goals on the assigned project, and/or projects
  • Ensure 100% client satisfaction on the assigned project(s)
  • Manage construction process for the assigned project(s)
  • Manage budget and schedule goals of the assigned project, from conception through completion
  • Manage risks throughout project
  • Identify key construction and design components through meetings and reviews with design and sales/estimator teams
  • Cost forecasting and reporting
  • Manage key deliverables from design, procurement and construction
  • Leverage knowledge of systems and product applications to reduce costs wherever possible
  • Coordinates resource availability and operational needs to ensure achievement of established project goals
  • Identifies opportunities for and initiates customer change orders, as required
  • Responsible for overseeing document management and administration for the assigned project
  • Direct work of several assigned Crew Leads and other solar installers
  • Responsible for effective oversight of multiple subcontractors and subbed installation labor
  • Negotiates and manages subcontracts and subcontractor management
  • Serves as the primary company representative to the customer, permitting agencies, and other project personnel
  • May evaluate the performance of more junior personnel to provide accurate feedback on the level of performance within the department
  • Scheduling and procurement
  • Troubleshoot and provide tech support for existing systems
  • Operations Management, Admin
  • Participate in sales and estimating
  • Windows, and MS Office Suite proficiency required
  • Solar experience preferred
  • QuickBooks experience a plus
  • NABCEP certified a plus
  • Construction management a plus

 

QUALIFICATIONS

At least 4 years installation experience
At least 4 years management experience
Ability to direct multiple field crews efficiently and in a productive manner
Ability to manage Field Supervisor
Thorough understanding of PV electrical, solar thermal plumbing, and structural systems
Strong understanding of NEC code and ability to reference the code as required
Detail oriented and well organized
Four-year college degree preferred
Valid driver's license required

Crew Lead/Advanced Installer

We install both PV and Thermal (electric and hot water).

PREVIOUS SOLAR EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
or high level electrical, plumbing, and/or mechanical skills

JOB DESCRIPTION
Install high quality solar projects within allotted timelines following established policies
Lead a crew and manage construction projects
Ensure crew and job site safety

REQUIREMENTS

  • Some Solar PV and/or Thermal installation experience
  • Team lead experience
  • Hardware and tool knowledge
  • Advanced electrical or plumbing knowledge, skills, experience a plus
  • NEC knowledge - CA plumbing code - SF code compliance
  • OSHA compliance knowledge
  • NABCEP installer a plus
  • Must have valid Driver’s License
  • Must have own hand tools - Occidental Power provides power tools and trucks
  • Must be prompt, reliable and have good attitude
  • Must have professional demeanor and appearance
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to problem solve
  • General construction knowledge and plan reading skills
  • Good communication skills with customers and our team
  • Good organizational and documentation skills
  • Must have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; ability to work in various positions and environments
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds on a frequent basis
  • Enjoy working outdoors and with hands
